Position Summary

The Director of Leadership and Well-Being is responsible for the development and management of the Athletic Department’s leadership program, providing holistic services and resources to support student-athlete transitions, and for offering wellness support to student-athletes. The Director of Leadership and Well-Being is responsible for the education, coordination of needed training, and communication of counseling and psychological services processes, resources, and services to student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Additionally, the Director of Leadership and Well-Being serves as a liaison with various health services and campus agencies to communicate available resources to coaches, student-athletes, and staff. Other responsibilities include assisting with Success Through Well-Being programming, resources, and initiatives and assisting with data management and analysis of Success Through Well-Being data.


Responsibilities

  • Provide opportunities for student-athletes to develop and enhance their leadership abilities to team captains and student-athletes in departmental leadership positions.
  • Provide holistic services and resources to support student-athlete transitions with a priority on first-year (i.e. First-Year Transition Program) and senior student-athletes.
  • Responsible for education, coordinating needed training, and communication of counseling and psychological services processes, resources, and services to student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • Serve as a liaison with various health services campus agencies to communicate available resources to student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • Offer group and team wellness support sessions to student-athletes.
  • Provide referrals to campus resources on an individual basis.
  • Assist the Success Through Well-Being team with developing and delivering Success Through Well-Being programming, resources, and initiatives.
  • Assist with data management and analysis of Success Through Well-Being data.
  • Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ related experience required.
  • Must clearly demonstrate the following competencies and qualities:
      • Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
      • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
      • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, administrators, alumni, and the general public
  • The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the athletic and academic community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s degree and/or doctoral degree preferred
  • Successful experience in athletics administration, NCAA Division I level preferred
