Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Academic Administration and Finance (DAAF) the incumbent exercises primary responsibility for the department’s administrative and programmatic budgets exceeding $15 million; instructional and personnel expenses; all department accounts, and for ARC reconciliation.


Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Director of Academic Administration and Finance (DAAF) the incumbent exercises primary responsibility for the department’s administrative and programmatic budgets exceeding $15 million; instructional and personnel expenses; all department accounts, and for ARC reconciliation.

  • Advises the DAAF and Chair as to historical levels of spending, prepares monthly reports and manages department budgets and monitors expenditures for compliance with University and Federal Policies and regulations.

  • Provides budget and administrative support to principle investigators, faculty, and other administrators during grant proposal preparation and acts as a liaison to the CU office of Sponsored Project Administration (SPA) and Sponsored Project Finance (SPF) concerning grants, gifts, and contracts; tracks grants, gifts and contracts and their reporting deadlines; and produces timely reports. 

  • Resolves financial problems and prevents overdrafts; manages ARC reconciliation of accounts on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis; reviews and approves accounts payable and purchasing transactions which include Travel and Business Expenses Reports, check request, purchase orders, service agreements, and P-card transactions.

  • Oversees the financial work performed by the Administrative Assistant.  He/she works closely with the Office of the EVP for A&S to perform fiscal year-end closing; and performs other duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent and two years of relevant experience in a position including financial responsibility required. 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in a university setting preferred. Knowledge of university systems and procedures preferred. Experience with electronic funds management preferred.
