Position Summary

We are looking for highly motivated research assistants skilled in cell and tissue culture and basic laboratory techniques to join our dynamic laboratory team. We are working on multiple tissue engineering projects for improving human health. Please see our website for more information: gvnlab.bme.columbia.edu. The Research Assistant will be reporting to the Principal Investigator - Lab director Prof. Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic, with operational oversight by Research Director, and will be responsible for a broad range of research activities in the lab. This is a grant-funded position and the annual continuation of the appointment is subject to review and funding


Responsibilities

  • (40%) Cell and tissue culture and laboratory analytics

  • (20%) Assistance with setting up tissue engineering experiments. Maintenance of cell and tissue cultures

  • (20%); Set up of experiments. Maintenance of experiments and technical support to multiple projects in the laboratory.


Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Bioengineering or a related field.

    Interest in research

    Strong experience with cell culture

    Work experience in biomedical/bioengineering laboratory required for the position: at least 1 year.

     

    Specific skills and/or knowledge required for the position:

    Human cell and tissue culture.

    Proficiency in basic laboratory procedures.

    Excellent interpersonal skills.
