Assistant Director of Development, Corporate Partnerships and Foundations (CGEP)

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Development, Corporate Partnerships and Foundations, is responsible for the Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP)’s corporate partnership program and managing its foundation funding relationships.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager between CGEP and 50+ corporate and foundation partners, each generally giving $250,000 or more per year.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with each corporate and foundation partner’s senior staff, shaping the relationship to maximize the value they receive from their partnership with CGEP.
  • Independently negotiate and close new and renewal corporate gifts, generally of $250,000 or more per year.
  • Respond to corporate partners’ requests for proposals, academic research updates, stewardship materials, etc., either by producing such materials independently or in collaboration with CGEP senior leaders and scholars.
  • Collaborate with corporate partners’ C-suite executives and their staffs to plan the content of educational briefings, led by CGEP senior staff and scholars.
  • Track corporate gift agreements, pledges, and pledge payments, and proactively update where and to whom pledge reminders should be sent to ensure they are received and processed.
  • Write custom acknowledgment letters to corporate partners for CGEP’s Director.
  • Work directly with foundation grantmakers to ensure all necessary proposal materials and narrative and financial reports are provided on time and as expected, either by producing such materials independently or in collaboration with CGEP senior leaders and scholars.
  • Continuously maintain relationships with foundation grantmakers in order to correctly invite key partners at each foundation to each CGEP public and private event, based on its content.
  • Conceive, design, and implement the Center’s corporate and foundation development procedures, including new systems for donor tracking, recognition, and stewardship.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience is required. Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and fundraising database experience required. Some evenings required. Must have a demonstrated success managing high-level donor relationships and events. The capacity to clearly comprehend and communicate CGEP’s mission and ongoing initiatives is required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior donor-facing experience in a nonprofit setting preferred.

  •  

    Prior grants management experience is strongly preferred.

     


Other Requirements

Demonstrated excellence in a variety of competencies including project management, fundraising, event planning, teamwork and client/customer awareness. Ability to work with changing priorities and multiple projects. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with attention to detail. Must be able to problem-solve and troubleshoot, in addition to the ability to work independently in a dynamic team environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with a diverse group of scholars and senior staff.
