Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Disability Services and in compliance with ADA, Section 504 and Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Accommodations Manager oversees accommodations for eligible students with disabilities, including but not limited to test administration, proctoring services, note-taking services and other academic  and classroom accommodations.


  • The incumbent manages the proctoring of academic exams for students with approved accommodations (the department administers more than 9,000 exams annually). 
  • This position is responsible for ensuring procedural compliance and integrity of the student and the testing program standards. 
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises casual employees who serve as note-takers, scribes, exam proctors, and sign-language interpreters.
  • Maintains accurate student records such as case notes, intake information and all relevant documentation related to accommodations.
  • Recommends policies and procedures for improvement of testing activities. Updates and maintains policies and procedures regarding accommodations.
  • Manages all aspects of electronic database systems to ensure effective coordination and oversight of all accommodations and related processes.
  • Assures program is equipped with materials and resources necessary for services.
  • Additional responsibilities include staff supervision, oversight of note-taking accommodations for more than 600 courses annually as well as coordination of other academic and classroom accommodations, such as lab assistants for qualified students.
  • Serves as liaison to faculty and other university partners in all areas related to testing. 
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' related experience required. 
  • Specific experience desired in the areas of postsecondary academic accommodations and auxiliary services. 
  • Experience working as part of a team coupled with ability to work in a flexible, collaborative manner within a diverse and demanding work environment focused on providing high quality services to students with disabilities. Excels at coordinating multi step processes and detailed oriented with proven ability to work with professionals, faculty, and students. 
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality. 
  • Ability to exercise astute judgment and sound decision making skills. 
  • Position requires strong computer skills.  
  • Includes early mornings, evenings, and nights up to 40% of the year (September - May)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a testing center particularly within higher education or similar setting strongly preferred.
