Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Coordinator will work closely with the Development & Alumni Relations staff at Columbia University School of Nursing. S/He will provide key administrative support for the Annual Fund, as well as for alumni & development events and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
- Writing and coordinating the production of donor & alumni e-blasts, donor stewardship materials, and special acknowledgment letters, and drafting his/her own correspondence for review by supervisors;
- Processing all gift transmittals for the department;
- Helping to coordinate the annual scholarship event and assist with the implementation and execution of other stewardship programs as they are developed;
- Helping to coordinate the Alumni Reunion and provide outreach efforts to alumni, students and volunteers;
- Assisting key Annual Fund and Alumni Relations staff on new initiatives to engage the recent alumni population;
- Coordinating and assisting to develop new smaller Alumni Relations initiatives and events;
- Managing database entry and maintaining donor lists and event data entry to ensure database accuracy;
- Representing the Development & Alumni Relations department with internal and external constituencies through written, verbal, and in-person interactions;
- Assisting with vendor and site inquiry for special events
- Assisting with prospect research and proposal development;
- Performing other responsibilities and projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, training and experience plus 2-years of related experience. Experience using Salesforce (or a comparable email broadcasting tool), CRM software, MS Office Suite, and a working knowledge of graphic design programs are also required.
The successful candidate must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills; be attentive to detail; and have the ability to work in fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously. S/he should have the ability to work proactively, both independently and as a team, and be able to exercise excellent judgment, tact and diplomacy in all interactions. The incumbent will also possess the ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of confidentiality. S/he must be able to accurately handle diverse projects and a large volume of detailed work simultaneously, and use good judgment in prioritizing work.
