Position Summary

The School of Nursing is seeking a Columbia University student who is interested in further developing research skills in health disparities and/or cardiovascular health research. The candidate will work on a study of sexual identity, adverse life experiences, and cardiovascular disease risk in sexual minority women and their heterosexual sisters. The study is housed at the School of Nursing. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigators, the candidate will be responsible for recruitment of study participants and data collection.


Responsibilities

  • Recruitment, obtaining informed consent, and enrollment of study participants
  • Administer study questionnaires using electronic data capture systems
  • Assist with the collection of physiological measures (including blood samples)
  • Complete weekly recruitment reports
  • Conduct literature reviews, as needed
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with electronic data capture systems
  • Organized and able to multitask in a diverse research environment
  • Flexibility in workload and work hours to meet deadlines and recruitment goals
  • Capable of working effectively in research groups

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in research or healthcare
  • Experience conducting research in sexual and/or gender minority health
  • Ideal candidates will have previous experience conducting research with sexual and/or gender minority populations and working in a team- oriented environment with frequent interaction with research participants and research staff.
