The School of Nursing at Columbia University is looking to hire four (4) individuals to work in a Variable Hours Officer (VHO) capacity on a part-time basis for a period of up to four years. Reporting to the Project Manager in the Division of Scholarship and Research, the VHO’s will conduct interviews with research participants in a grant-funded study of substance use and intimate partner aggression among sexual minority women. The selected incumbents will conduct detailed data collection using computer-assisted technology. These positions will have a variable work schedule, working up to 10 hours per week once data collection commences.
Responsibilities will include:
Participating in scheduling interviews with study participants via zoom or telephone;
Completing the informed consent process with research participants;
Administering survey instrument to participants using a structured interview guide and computer-assisted technology;
Performing accurate and detailed entry of data into an Electronic Data Capture program; and
Performing other related duties as assigned.
The selected incumbents will be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality of research data. This position requires the need to work some evening and weekend hours.
This is a temporary position with a flexible work schedule. This position is grant funded and continued employment will be contingent upon the grant. The position is currently funded until 6/30/2024.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of related experience.
Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suites, which include Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, possess excellent time management skills.
Must be reliable and punctual
Familiarity with survey research methods and electronic data capture systems is a plus.
